A Big Mac is a useful yardstick because it is the same sandwich everywhere, and The Economist has collected its price in the United States twice a year for decades. In dollars, the price rose from $4.29 to $6.22 between 2015 and today, up 45%. Measured in Bitcoin, it moved the other way. To keep Bitcoin's large short term swings from dominating the picture, the orange chart divides the dollar price by the four year average Bitcoin price rather than the daily spot price. None of this is a prediction or a recommendation. It is only a record of what has happened so far, measured with two different rulers.
